Digital Human Modelling: Inclusive Design and the Ageing Population

چکیده

Digital human modelling (DHM) is a tool that allows humans to be modelled in three-dimensional CAD. An almost infinite variety of can and families so-called manikins created act as virtual user groups, evaluating the interactions between products, workplaces environments. This chapter introduces concept DHM, its use of, reliance on, anthropometric data from national populations showcases two exemplar tools SAMMIE IPS IMMA. Case studies are presented highlight advantages DHM bring understanding requirements designing for ageing population; covering workforce, exploration transport accessibility how users generate representative manikin properly represent diversity people. demonstrated powerful practitioners aiming understand design people, including older people within society.

The challenges of human population ageing

The 20th century saw an unprecedented increase in average human lifespan as well as a rapid decline in human fertility in many countries of the world. The accompanying worldwide change in demographics of human populations is linked to unanticipated and unprecedented economic, cultural, medical, social, public health and public policy challenges, whose full implications on a societal level are o...

Modelling human ageing: role of telomeres in stress-induced premature senescence and design of anti-ageing strategies

To test the involvement of the telomeres in the senescent phenotype, we used telomerase-immortalized human foreskin ¢broblasts (hTERT-BJ1). We exposed hTERT-BJ1 and parental BJ cells to either UVB or H2O2 subcytotoxic stress(es). Both cell lines developed biomarkers of replicative senescence: loss of replicative potential, increase in senescence-associated L-galactosidase activity, typical sene...

Digital sound system modelling and design

As part of a staged redevelopment of the Adelaide Convention Centre, a new Plenary Hall is to be constructed with a capacity of 3150 seats. The Hall can be subdivided and includes an operable theatre in the round within each sub-division. This paper outlines the acoustic performance criteria for the complex operation modes of the Plenary Hall. It provides a review of the sound system design phi...

Design Principles of Augmented Reality Focusing on the Ageing Population

Augmented Reality (AR) is growing rapidly and becoming a mature and robust technology, which combines virtual information with the real environment and real-time performance. It is important to ensure the acceptance and success of augmented reality systems. With the growth of elderly users, evidence shows potential trends for AR systems to support the elderly, including transport, ageing in pla...

Kinematics and Dynamic Modelling of the Human Shoulder

This paper deals with kinematics and dynamics of the human shoulder in order to obtain the workspace related to the reachability of the wrist and applications to determine load for the wheelchair. The model contains six revolute degrees of freedom (D.O.F), two in costoclavicular and three in the shoulder joint and one in the elbow joint, while a six D.O.F model was developed according to given ...
